VIDEO INSPIRATION:

I think one of the best documentary film makers out there at the moment is Louis Theroux, he has changed the way I think about lots of things and has opened my eyes too. I feel his style of being quite charming and extremely impartial must be hard to maintain with the kinds of people he interviews and I respect him very much to do that. He has made a variation of different documentaries ranging from lighthearted and humorous (if a bit bit odd) with 'When Louis met Jimmy Saville' and 'Swingers' to much more serious with 'A place for pedophiles' and 'Johannesburg'.
These are clips from two of my favorite episodes, 'The most hated family in America' and 'South Africa':

Anthropology and psychology are two things I am very interested in and the idea that someone is educated enough to be a lawyer (Shirley Phelps) can have such bigotted views. This asked the question: If we all thought prejudice was a product of an ignorant society why are there people who are academically and socially educated with such extremist views?

PPD2 INTRO:

I have come to this course having missed the first year and currently have a media BTEC, half a year of an art foundation and a year of advertising behind me. An interesting mix, but are all relative to viscom. This year I want to learn 'what is my passion'. I know I am interested in photography, which I have been incorporating into my work for years now, I am also very interested in video, which I havn't done since my BTEC and would like to experiment and learn about much more. I would like to become much more educated in these two areas. I already have reasonable knowledge in them both however not nearly at a professional standard.

INTRO TO VISCOM:

A new year a new course.
My choice to change from advertising to visual communication was one that I feel will benifit me massively.
I always felt that the commercialism of advertising wasn't for me, and that ultimately I wanted to leave my degree and do something that meant something to the world...not selling jammie dodgers!
Having only been on this course for a week I feel that viscom will enable me to do this, I feel most of all that I have much more enthusiasm for viscom.
